The final two ODIs of the ongoing West Indies and New Zealand series will honour the life and legacy of Garfield Sobers.
West Indian great Sobers, who played 93 Test and 1 ODI, passed away on Friday at the age of 89.
Windies cricket announced that admission to the fourth and fifth ODI will be free to pay tribute to Sobers.
Before start of play, Cricket West Indies president Kishore Shallow, Barbados Cricket Association president Calvin Hope, and the West Indies white ball and red ball captains honoured him by placing wreaths next to Sobers’ statue outside the venue.
England and Indian cricket teams also observed a minute’s silence ahead of their final ODI at Lord’s with the players wearing back armbands.
