Indian batter Abhishek Sharma was forced off the field with an injury during the first T20I between India and Zimbabwe in Harare on Thursday.
The 25-year-old failed to latch onto a catch at backward point off Dion Myers and injured his finger in the process, after which he left the field for medical attention.
The southpaw is coming off a disappointing tour of England, where India lost 4-0. Abhishek contributed a half-century in the rained-off game in Chester-le-Street but saw his numbers dwindle through the series.
He returns to Zimbabwe, where he made his international debut in 2024. He scored 124 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 174.64, which was the prelude to an extremely successful couple of years with the Indian T20I team, including the T20 World Cup triumph in 2026.
