Mayank Yadav strikes first ball to end two-year wait for international wicket

Indian speedster Mayank Yadav took his first internatinoal wicket in two years when he had Brian Bennett caught behind first ball of the first T20I on Thursday.

Mayank produced a peach that pitched on a good length outside off, straightened just enough off the seam and squared up Bennett. Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan sprang up in a confident appeal, prompting India to review after the on-field umpire remained unmoved.

UltraEdge revealed the faintest of nicks, overturning the decision and sending Bennett back for a golden duck.

Mayank had made a sensational debut in the IPL two years ago, when he took three for 27 for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings, was named the Player-of-the-Match, and clocked 155.8 kmph — the fastest ball yet of the season. He went on to bowl even quicker.

But life has not been kind to Mayank after that brilliant start to his career. He got injured and the comeback hasn’t been easy.
