Mohammed Shami on Sunday completed 100 First-Class games after he was named in the East Zone line-up to face South Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026-27 final in Chennai.
The 36-year-old has featured in East’s all three games in the tournament. He picked five wickets in the first two games, against North East and Central, at an average of 28.80.
The out-of-favour India pacer has played 64 games for the national side, 23 for his State side Bengal, seven for India A and five for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy.
In the previous game against Central Zone, Shami had become just the sixth Indian pacer to complete 900 career wickets, joining Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath, Jaydev Unadkat and R. Vinay Kumar.
Shami had last played a Test for India during the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia. He suffered a knee injury during the ODI World Cup later that year and was ruled out for the entire next year.
He returned briefly in the One-Day format during the Champions Trophy in 2025 but subsequently lost his place and did not make it to the Test team.
