Ishan Kishan becomes third East Zone batter to score double century in Duleep Trophy

Ishan Kishan on Monday notched up his second career First-Class double century during the Duleep Trophy final between East Zone and South Zone at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

The southpaw reached the milestone in 270 deliveries, with the essay included 25 fours and two sixes. His previous double hundred had come during the 2016/17 season in the Ranji Trophy when he scored 273 against Delhi.

His previous best score in the Duleep Trophy was 111 runs, which came during the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Kishan becomes only the third batter after Arun Lal and Saba Karim to reach 200 runs for East Zone. Lal had struck two double centuries during the 1986-87 while Karim managed the feat in 1995-96.

He also becomes just the sixth batter to score a double hundred in the final, joining Raman Lamba, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Aunshuman Gaekwad, and Yusuf Pathan.

Kishan briefly retired hurt on 250 due to sickness but returned and added another 20 runs to his tally.
