India will take on Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series starting Saturday at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.
The Shubman Gill-led side is largely inexperienced travelling to Sri Lankan shores to play red-ball matches. Only three players from the current squad have previously played a Test in the Island Nation: Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav.
This will be Kuldeep’s second Test tour to Sri Lanka. He had played just one match on the previous tour and picked five wickets.
Kuldeep was selected for the third match and claimed four wickets in the first innings and then got one more in the second. India won that match by an innings and 171 runs.
Overall, Kuldeep has played 17 matches in Sri Lanka across formats. Apart from the lone red-ball game, the wrist spinner has played 12 List-A matches and four T20s. In total, he has picked 28 wickets.
