Historic forts were scanned and researched in detail to ensure authenticity, promising audiences an immersive experience that transports them into the Maratha Empire.

It not only boasts a stellar creative team, including celebrated cinematographer Santosh Sivan (making his Marathi debut) and music maestros Ajay–Atul, ensuring a visual and auditory spectacle but also an enviable ensemble featuring some of the biggest names from Marathi and Hindi cinema that includes the likes of Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amol Gupte, Riteish’s wife and actress Genelia Deshmukh, along with a few surprises reserved for the big screen.

Set against a backdrop of clashing empires and rising rebellions, the film traces Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s journey from a young visionary to the revered Raja Shivaji, laying the foundation for Swarajya. With its epic scale and emotional depth, the film aims to deliver a cinematic experience befitting the legendary king’s legacy.

Following Jio Studios’ Dhurandhar, Raja Shivaji is poised to become another industry-defining spectacle. The project now moves into post-production ahead of its global release on May 1, 2026.
