The seventh train set for Namma Metro’s Yellow Line arrived at the Hebbagodi depot in Bengaluru on Thursday evening.

According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) sources, the newly arrived train will be inducted into revenue service in early January after completing mandatory inspections and safety testing. The train sets were dispatched by Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) on December 10 and transported to Bengaluru on trailers.

The officials said, “The sixth Yellow Line train is currently undergoing various tests and is likely to enter passenger service on December 22.” Meanwhile, the TRSL is expected to dispatch the eighth train set by the end of this month.

With a fleet of eight trains, the BMRCL officials said, “The Yellow Line is likely to achieve a peak-hour headway of around eight to ten minutes, which is expected to significantly improve commuter convenience, particularly during rush hours.”

The Yellow Line is an 19.15-km stretch connecting R.V. Road to Bommasandra. It was inaugurated on August 10 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opened for commercial operations the following day. The line plays a crucial role in linking southern parts of the city and the Electronics City industrial hub to the wider Namma Metro network.
