
Mayor R. Priya says funds to the tune of ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh have been set aside for each ward for road-related works.

Responding to a question on potholes on the city’s roads raised by Ward 104 councillor T. V. Shemmozhi, she said, “The GCC has been addressing complaints of potholes and road erosion across the city.”
“In addition, special funds amounting to ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh per ward have been set aside for patchwork on bus route roads and repairs to internal roads affected by the rain. Jet patcher machines are also being used for the ongoing work,” she said.
Councillor Shemmozhi further requested that complaints over major roads such as Jawaharlal Nehru Salai also be attended to. The Mayor replied that a request would be made with the Highways Department regarding the issue.
