As Ikkis readies for release, Aryan Pushkar steps into the spotlight with a journey that feels deeply personal and entirely earned. What began as a behind-the-scenes role on the film quietly evolved into a defining turning point, one that led him from Assistant Director to making his acting debut on the very same project.

EXCLUSIVE: Aryan Pushkar on being Assistant Director in Ikkis to making his acting debut in the same film, “I am incredibly thankful to Sriram Raghavan sir for trusting me”Aryan joined Ikkis in 2022, fresh out of film school, eager to immerse himself in the filmmaking process. “At that point, I was working across departments — direction, production, wherever I could learn,” he said. “When I heard the team was looking for an Assistant Director, I applied without hesitation.” His involvement soon became integral to the film’s authenticity.

Coming from an Army background, Aryan brought firsthand understanding of military discipline and conduct — a crucial requirement for Ikkis. “The film demanded a deep understanding of Army behaviour,” he shared. “Over two to three schedules, I was closely involved in ensuring accuracy — from checking uniforms to guiding actors on demeanor and protocol.” Beyond logistics, Aryan became the go-to reference for military realism on set, working closely with the cast to maintain credibility on screen. “That included actors like Jaideep (Ahlawat) sir and Agastya (Nanda),” he explained. “I was responsible for how Army officers carry themselves — their posture, discipline, and everyday conduct.”

It was this commitment and quiet authority that caught director Sriram Raghavan’s attention. “Over time, Sriram sir noticed my work and dedication,” Aryan recalled. “One day, he called me into his office and told me he wanted me to play this role. He said he had observed my understanding of the world we were portraying and felt I would be right for the part.” For Aryan, the opportunity was both unexpected and deeply meaningful. “I had always wanted to be an actor, but I was consciously waiting for the right opportunity,” he said. “I never imagined my acting debut would come from a film where I started as an Assistant Director.”

Grounded and grateful, Aryan sees the transition as a rare full-circle moment. “I am incredibly thankful to Sriram sir for trusting me,” he added. “It feels like the most honest and meaningful way I could have stepped in front of the camera for the first time.” With Ikkis, Aryan Pushkar’s debut arrives as the natural outcome of patience, preparation, and purpose; introducing a new actor shaped by discipline, craft, and lived experience.
