Police organise mega medical camp for tribals in Velairupadu Agency Area

As part of community policing initiatives, the Velairupadu police organised a mega free medical camp for tribal communities at Ramavaram village in Velairupadu mandal of Eluru district on Wednesday (December 24, 2025), bringing essential healthcare services closer to people living in remote agency areas.

The camp was conducted on the directions of Eluru District Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Siva Kishore and Polavaram DSP M. Venkateswara Rao. The programme was organised under the supervision of Kukkunuru Inspector M. Ramesh Babu, Velairupadu Sub-Inspector Naveen Kumar, and Kukkunuru Sub-Inspector Raja Reddy.

Prominent ASRAM Hospital and the Chinni Seva Trust from Jangareddygudem extended full cooperation by providing a team of specialist doctors and medical support. Doctors from seven different specialities examined tribal patients and offered consultations for general ailments, gynaecological issues affecting women and pregnant mothers, orthopaedic problems related to bones and joints, ENT disorders, pulmonary and respiratory diseases, paediatric health issues, and eye-related problems.

In addition to conducting medical examinations, free medicines were distributed to all needy patients. The camp proved to be a major relief for tribals, including those from the Gotti Koya community, who often lack access to proper medical facilities due to the remoteness of agency areas.

Hundreds of people from Ramavaram and nearby villages availed themselves of the free medical services. Local residents expressed gratitude to the police officials and the medical team for providing costly healthcare services at their doorstep without any charge.

The initiative highlighted that the police department’s role goes beyond maintaining law and order and includes actively participating in public welfare. Officials stated that the primary objective of organising the mega medical camp was to ensure the well-being of people in agency areas and to improve access to quality healthcare for tribal communities.
