‘Confident’ Ambrish focusing on fitness to deliver for India U-19 in World Cup
Ambrish was part of the TN’s Cooch Behar winning squad earlier this year, where he made vital contributions with the bat in the semifinals and the final.
Following this, he was picked up for the India U-19 tours to England and Australia and even made his Ranji Trophy debut earlier this year.

In England, he was impressive with the bat and ball and was the joint highest wicket-taker in the one-day games while scoring 111 runs. He also scored twin half-centuries in the first four-day game.
“I am really excited and happy to be picked for the World Cup. It feels great, but the focus is to win the competition,” said Ambrish in a chat with Sportstar on Sunday.
“The tours to England and Australia gave me a lot of confidence. In terms of batting, I have improved at playing according to the situation. In bowling, I think my consistency has gotten better,” he added.
The 18-year-old missed the recently concluded Asia Cup due to a side strain that he picked up during the U-19 challengers and has since recovered.
“Considering I have to deliver for the team with bat and ball, I am working hard on my fitness with a focus on strength and conditioning. It is challenging at times, but I have confidence in myself and feel I am ready,” said Ambrish.
