The public transport routing feature is currently available for select cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Indore, Patna, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Jaipur, Kochi and Bhopal. It is live on iOS and web platforms, with an Android rollout planned.
According to the company, the addition of public transport routes is aimed at bringing private and public transport options onto a single indigenous maps and navigation app. Mappls currently has over 40 million users.
MapmyIndia Mappls stated that its mapping and location technology aligns with government guidelines on issues such as international border delineation and the handling of sensitive locations. The company noted that its government business has grown in recent years and currently accounts for about 20% of its gross revenue.
