Ikkis: Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat get emotional recalling their experience with Dharmendra: “I was a bit hesitant at the start since he is such a big star” : Bollywood News

A day before the release of Ikkis, the team of the film consisting Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, Simar Bhatia and director Sriram Raghavan attended the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati as contestants. The episode eventually became emotional as the team of Ikkis, along with host and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan remembered the late legend Dharmendra, who passed away in November last year. Ikkis happens to be the last film of the late actor.

In our family, you have worked with him and so has naani (Jaya Bachchan). I consider myself very lucky to have worked with him. He was known for his warmth and love. Sadly, he is not here today.”

Ahlawat pointed out how lucky he feels as compared to other cast members of Ikkis. “When it comes to the cast, I feel I am very lucky because his maximum scenes are with me in the film,” he said. “Despite being such an iconic name, whenever he was on the set, it never felt that we are with a very big star. It used to feel that he is a part of the family.”

The actor added, “I was a bit hesitant at the start since he is such a big star. But within 15-20 seconds when he puts his hand on your head and asks, ‘Kaisa hai puttar?’, you get mesmerized. It was great listening to his old stories and poetry, which he used to write so well. I got to work with such a personality. There is so much love in him. The Punjabiyat and wittiness in him was amazing.”

The host Amitabh Bachchan, who has worked with Dharmendra in quite a few films, including Sholay and Chupke Chupke, said, “The film Ikkis is the last precious memento for us, left behind for millions of people. An artist wants to practice art until the very last breath of life, and this is exactly what my friend, my family, and my idol, Mr. Dharmendra Deol, did.”

Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis released in theatres today. The film has been receiving positive reviews.
