Bangladesh announces squad for T20 World Cup 2026

Bangladesh on Sunday announced its squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup set to be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka from February 7.

Opening batter Litton Das will captain the side which is slotted in Group C along with England, Italy, Nepal and West Indies.

Bangladesh will begin its campaign on February 7, when it takes on West Indies. All four of Bangladesh’s matches are currently scheduled to held in India, with Eden Gardens hosting three of them.

But, earlier on Sunday, Asif Nazrul, Youth and Sports Adviser in the interim Bangladesh government, confirmed that a request will be made to shift the team’s World Cup matches to Sri Lanka.

This came after India forced Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman to quit the Indian Premier League, following tensions between the neighbouring nations.

Mustafizur is expected to lead Bangladesh’s bowling attack in the World Cup.
