Gaikwad now joins his Maharashtra teammate, Ankit Bawne, with most centuries in the competition over the years.
Walking in at number five with the team struggling at two runs for three wickets, Gaikwad occupied one end even as Maharashtra continued to lose wickets from the other. He eventually found an able partner in Vicky Ostwal and struck a 108-run stand for the seventh wicket.
Gaikwad struck six sixes and eight fours during his unbeaten 134 off 131 balls, helping Maharashtra reach a competitive score of 249 for seven.
