Flipkart appoints Gunjan Bhartia as SVP Business Finance for eKart

Walmart-owned e-retailer Flipkart said on Thursday it has appointed Gunjan Bhartia as Senior Vice President of Business Finance for eKart, the company’s logistics arm, with a focus on strengthening financial planning and supply chain strategies.

Bhatia brings over 28 years of experience to the role, having held leadership positions at South Korean ecommerce firm Coupang and conglomerate GE.

“We are delighted to welcome Gunjan to Flipkart. His experience in transformation finance, capital discipline, and governance will add significant strength to eKart while supporting the Group’s long-term value creation,” shared Ravi Iyer, Chief Financial Officer, Flipkart, in a press note.

The development comes after Flipkart promoted Iyer—to whom Bhartia will report—to Chief Financial Officer of the ecommerce unit in June 2025. Iyer took on the role after serving as Senior Vice President of the corporate business unit, reporting to Flipkart Group CFO Sriram Venkataraman.

Later in September, Flipkart named former Google executive Balaji Thiagarajan as its Chief Product and Technology Officer to lead its core technology teams, following the exit of Jeyandran Venugopal.

The strengthening of the leadership team comes as the Bengaluru-based ecommerce major prepares for a potential public market debut.

In December 2025, Flipkart received approval from the National Company Law Tribunal to shift its domicile from Singapore to India. The order allowed the amalgamation of its Singapore-incorporated entities with its India-based operations, a move seen as a precursor to an initial public offering.

Flipkart competes with Amazon and domestic rivals, such as Meesho, in India’s fast-growing digital commerce market.
