Vaibhav Suryavanshi scores 72 against Bangladesh in U-19 World Cup match


Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a 67-ball 72 against during the Under-19 World Cup match between India and Bangladesh being played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Suryavanshi smashed three sixes and six fours during his innings before he was caught at deep midwicket off pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon.

Suryavanshi (1047 runs) also moved past Virat Kohli (978 runs) in Youth ODIs. He is currently seventh on the list, 33 runs behind Sarfaraz Khan in sixth.

The 14-year-old played a crucial knock after India U-19 lost its first two wickets inside three overs. The opener, however, wasn’t afraid to take on the bowlers when there was something to hit.

He added run-a-ball 41 runs with Vihaan Malhotra before sharing a 62-run fourth wicket stand off 99 balls with Abhigyan Kundu. Suryavanshi reached his half-century off 30 balls.

This is the maiden fifty for Suryavanshi in the U-19 World Cup. He scored two off four balls against the USA in the opening encounter.
