Virat Kohli replaced by Daryl Mitchell as No. 1 ODI batter in latest ICC Rankings
The 34-year-old Mitchell recorded scores of 84, 131 not out and 137 for a total of 352 runs, the most by a New Zealand batter in a three-match ODI series and the third-most of all time, behind only Pakistan’s Babar Azam (360 against West Indies in 2016) and Shubman Gill (360 against New Zealand in 2023). While the Kiwis lost the opening match in Vadodara by four wickets, the visitor bounced back to level the series by winning the second game by seven wickets in Rajkot before defeating India by 41 runs in the decider in Indore.
Kohli managed 240 runs in three innings, including an impressive knock of 108-ball 124 in a losing cause in the final ODI.
While Kohli has 795 ranking points, Mitchell is 50 ahead and has become the No. 1 ODI batter for the second time in his career. His first spell at the top only lasted three days last November before he was overtaken by Rohit Sharma.

Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran (764) went past Rohit (757) to take the third spot after the latter scored only 61 runs across three innings against the Kiwis.
KL Rahul, who scored 142 runs in the series, including an unbeaten 112 in Rajkot, replaced compatriot Shreyas Iyer to take the 10th place.
Glenn Phillips, who made 88-ball 106 and had a game-changin 219-run partnership with Mitchell in Indore, jumped 16 spots to 20th. He also gained 14 places to joint-31st in the all-rounder rankings.
