Parliament Budget Session Day 6 LIVE: Lok Sabha adjourned until 2 p.m. amid Opposition uproar; Piyush Goyal apprises lower house about India-U.S. trade deal

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Piyush Goyal informs the House about the timeline of the trade deal between India and United States, that was announced on February 2, 2026.

He says that during the negotiations, the Indian side was successful in safeguarding key sectors such as agriculture and dairy. 

Mr. Goyal says that following a telephonic conversation between PM Modi and U.S. President, Donald Trump announced the slashing of tariff rates to 18%. He notes that this rate is lesser than what has been levied on competing countries in the U.S. market. 

This, Mr. Goyal says, will make Indian exports more appealing in the market.
