At the trailer launch of Do Deewane Seher Mein, actor Mrunal Thakur spoke candidly about her journey toward self-acceptance, drawing parallels between her own experiences and those of her character, Roshni. The event saw the actor visibly emotional as she addressed how deeply the film connected with her on a personal level.

Sharing how director Ravi Udyawar first approached her, she said, “Sir (director Ravi Udyawar) actually gave me a call and said, ‘Mrunal, I want you to hear something’.” After listening to the narration by writer Abhiruchi Chand, she felt an immediate connection with the story. “It’s very rare that you just say, ‘Sir, let’s start shooting.’ That was the time. It was so easy because I had to do it from my heart,” she said, adding that she felt “blessed and grateful” to have been offered the role.

During the interaction, the actor also reflected on her childhood and the insecurities she dealt with while growing up. “When I used to change schools all the time, there were some insecurities. I used to feel underconfident,” Mrunal shared. She admitted that accepting herself was a long process and that self-doubt stayed with her for years. “Up until now…till the release of my film Son of Sardaar 2, I used to feel that way. I realised it took me a lot of time to accept that yes, I am beautiful the way I am. And I’m just so proud of myself with the way I am.”

Mrunal also addressed the constant pressure to conform to conventional beauty standards, particularly in the film industry. “There was so much noise around, everyone thought, look perfect, do this body, do that, look like this, manicure, pedicure, pretend, just cross your legs. No, man. I’m just perfectly imperfect and I love that,” she said, drawing applause from the audience.

Linking her personal journey to the film’s theme, Mrunal expressed her hope that viewers would see a reflection of themselves in the story. “Through this movie, I just want to let the audience know that this film is for you. You will be able to resonate with it. When you watch that film, sitting in that seat, you should feel like you’re a part of that movie,” she said.

Do Deewane Seher Mein stars Mrunal Thakur opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi and is positioned as a romantic drama that explores everyday relationships and emotional vulnerability, with an emphasis on authenticity and connection.
