According to the police, the 16-year-old Class 10 student had left school in Mangolpuri during recess on Monday when he was surrounded by six teenagers, one of whom stabbed him in the head with an ice pick, said a senior police officer. The victim was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Six minors have been apprehended while the role of another accused is being investigated, the officer said, adding that the weapon has been recovered and a probe is under way to ascertain the motive.
Calling out the government over its “lack of response” to such cases, the former Delhi Health Minister said, “There is so much violence and hatred among youngsters… it reflects a perverted mindset.”
The AAP leader said Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to whom the Delhi police report, is “always campaigning” while police chief Satish Golchha remains inaccessible. “Neither has issued any statement about what steps are being taken to prevent such crimes,” said Mr. Bharadwaj.
