Sonam Kapoor Ahuja recently offered a deeply personal glimpse into her baby shower celebrations, sharing two emotional Instagram posts that beautifully captured both her style moment and the spiritual significance of the occasion. The actress, who is expecting her second child, marked the milestone with a traditional godh barai ceremony, surrounded by family and close friends.

Keeping the aesthetic understated yet elegant, the ensemble featured delicate floral embroidery and a flowing drape worn cape-style. Styled by Rhea Kapoor and Manisha Melwani, the look was paired with classic gold jewellery, including a statement choker, jhumkas and bangles, while her hair was neatly tied in a low bun. Sonam captioned the post, “This look was made with so much love. Shehla created this soft mul custom outfit for me, hand-painted, hand-embroidered, and crafted with the kind of care that only comes from deep understanding and trust. Grateful beyond words for you, Shehla, and for my sister Rhea, who have stood by me unconditionally, always. It truly takes a village, and I’m endlessly thankful for mine. Also thank you to my nearest and dearest nam, manisha,abs hoppers… always showing up for me”.

In another post, Sonam reflected on the spiritual meaning of the ceremony, writing, “Seemantonnayan the third of the sixteen sacred sanskars in Sanatan Dharma. Often called the “hair-parting ritual,” it honours the mother and the life she carries. Known as Godh Bharai, Shrimant, Dohale Jevan, Shaad, Seemantham, Valaikappu, Seemantha, Pulikkudi and Sadhabhakshan across different parts of India — the names may change, but the blessing remains the same: love, protection and celebration of new life. This ancient ritual felt even more meaningful because all my best friends in the world showed up for me. My whole family did too. I felt so held. And to my mum, my mother-in-law, and my sister — thank you for organising everything and making me feel so deeply loved, cherished and celebrated. I will never forget this. A lap full of blessings. A heart overflowing with gratitude”.

Just two to three days ago, we had shared photos and videos from Sonam’s godh barai that she posted on her Instagram Stories. The visuals offered glimpses of the intimate celebration and the guests in attendance, including her parents Sunita and Anil Kapoor, cousins Khushi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor, along with close friends Kareena Kapoor Khan, Masaba Gupta and others.

With heartfelt words, timeless visuals and a strong sense of tradition, Sonam Kapoor’s baby shower stood out as a celebration rooted in love, faith and togetherness.
