In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Bhamrrah candidly admitted that she was turned down for roles because of her physicality. “Yes, many times,” she said when asked if her height had ever cost her work.

‘Am I not going to get work because of my height?’: Pooja Bhamrrah on facing rejection before Kohrra 2Standing at 5’10”, the actor revealed that she would sometimes receive feedback that the male lead cast opposite her was “shorter frame-wise.” While she understands that visual compatibility matters in filmmaking, the repeated rejections were difficult to process in the early years of her career. “In the beginning, I will not deny, I used to feel bad,” she shared. “It brought along with it a feeling of hopelessness — like, am I not going to get work because of my height?”

Over time, however, her perspective shifted. Instead of internalising the rejection, Bhamrrah began to see it as part of an unpredictable industry process. “Sometimes it fits, sometimes it doesn’t,” she explained, acknowledging that casting decisions are often shaped by a director’s vision. The self-doubt gradually gave way to acceptance. “Yours will come,” she said, reflecting on how she learned to be patient with her journey. “There will be roles that suit you, that suit your physicality.”

Before landing Kohrra 2, Bhamrrah faced the quieter, less glamorous side of the industry, where even something as unchangeable as height could determine opportunity. Today, however, the conversation around her has shifted. Her portrayal of Preet in the Netflix series has struck a chord with audiences, earning her widespread appreciation and heartfelt messages. Calling the response “overwhelming,” Bhamrrah admitted she did not expect her character to be noticed the way it has been.
