Santner-McConchie record highest 7th wicket partnership in T20 World Cups


Mitchell Santner and Cole McConchie recorded the highest seventh wicket partnership in T20 World Cups during New Zealand’s Super Eight match against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.

Santner and McConchie added 84 runs, overtaking Australia’s Michael Hussey and Steve Smith’s previously held record of 74 runs they made in the 2010 edition against Bangladesh.

The duo punched gloves when New Zealand was reduced to 84 for six in the 13th over and counter-attacked to take the score to 168 for seven.

Highest seventh wicket partnership in T20 World Cups:

1) Mitchell Santner and Cole McConchie (New Zealand) – 84 off 47 balls vs Sri Lanka, 2026

2) Michael Hussey and Steve Smith (Australia) – 74 off 42 balls vs Bangladesh, 2010

3) Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan) – 71* off 43 balls vs Pakistan, 2021
