T20 World Cup 2026: India vs England semifinal shatters world record for digitial viewership


The T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal between India and England, held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, shattered the world record for digital viewership for any live event.

The contest, which India won by seven runs, registered a peak digital concurrency of 65.2 million viewers on streaming platform JioHotstar.

“The Second semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has shattered the world record for digital viewership. The match between India and England registered a peak digital concurrency of 65.2 million viewers, which is the highest for any live event across the world,” International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah posted on social media platform X on Friday.

“This demonstrates the unparalleled capacity of marquee global Cricket to aggregate Indian fans as well as the prowess of my team at the ICC and our partner JioStar in recruiting and engaging fans at scale. Proud moment for all of us as we set new global benchmarks in the world of sport, media and streaming,” he added.

Defending champion India edged out England in a high-scoring match to qualify for a record fourth T20 World Cup final. The Men in Blue will face New Zealand in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
