Summer Car Driving Tips: Take these 5 important precautions while driving in summer, otherwise there can be a big danger.

Summers in India have now reached their peak. The temperature may go up to 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days. In such a situation, driving a car not only becomes tiring but also risky for health. Bright sunlight, hot air and high temperature inside the car can cause problems like dehydration, heat stroke, fatigue, headache and loss of concentration.

Excessive sweating during long driving causes loss of water and salt in the body, which can lead to dizziness or even fainting. Also, the risk of the car’s engine overheating or tire bursting increases, which can cause an accident. Therefore, it is important to take special care of your and your family’s health before and during driving in summer. With proper preparation and precautions, you can travel safely and comfortably. Let’s take a look at 5 important tips for Summer Car Driving.

1. Maintain hydration

Always keep enough cold water, ORS or lemonade in the car. Keep drinking small amounts of water every 30-45 minutes, even if you do not feel thirsty. To avoid dehydration, keep salty biscuits or electrolyte drinks with you. Avoid overly sweet or caffeinated drinks, as these can increase dehydration.

2. Make arrangements to keep the car cool

Always park in the shade or use sunshade/car cover. Before starting driving, release the hot air by opening the windows for 2-3 minutes, then turn on the AC. The temperature inside the car can reach 50-60 degrees, so never leave children or pets alone. Install sun film or curtains.

3. Comfortable clothing and safety equipment

Wear light, cotton and light colored clothes which can absorb sweat. Carry sunglasses, a hat and wet wipes. On long drives, take breaks every 1-2 hours, get in the shade and stretch. This will reduce fatigue and maintain concentration.

4. Health related preparations

Keep a first aid kit, pain relievers, motion sickness pills and any necessary medicines in the car. If you have blood pressure, sugar or heart problems, consult a doctor. Get good sleep and avoid heavy meals before driving in summer.

5. Basic checkup of the car

Although, in this article we are mainly focusing on health, but for safe driving it is very important to check the coolant level, tire pressure (increases in summer, so check in the morning), AC functionality and battery. If the engine overheats, immediately stop it and turn off the engine and let it cool down.
