Volkswagen India has officially announced the facelift model of its popular mid-size SUV Taigun. The company has started production of the new Taigun at its plant in Pune. This updated model is going to be launched in India on 9 April 2026. This is the first major update of Taigun, which is coming after its launch in 2021. The company had recently released a teaser, in which the new Taigun is shown with a bold and distinct design. Let us know what changes are going to happen in this.
The exterior design of the new Taigun has been significantly refreshed. It has sleeker and reshaped LED headlamps, which come with connected daytime running lights (DRL). The front bumper and grille have also been given a more aggressive and modern look. Updated taillights and new design will be seen in the rear. Recently, the production-spec model has been spotted without any camouflage, giving clear hints about the design. The company has started its production.

Apart from this, there will be changes in the interior of the vehicle as well. A new 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster can be included in it. Engine and Performance
Talking about powertrain, the existing 1.0 liter and 1.5 liter TSI petrol engines will remain intact in the new Taigun. The 1.0 liter engine provides 115 PS power, while the 1.5 liter variant provides 150 PS power. A major change is expected to come in transmission.
In place of the existing 6-speed torque converter in the 1.0 liter variant, a new 8-speed automatic gearbox can be given, which will give better driving experience and fuel efficiency. Manual transmission option will also be available. The company has increased the use of local components under the Bharat 2.0 project, so that production and cost remain effective.
Price and competition
Volkswagen Taigun has always been known for its driver-oriented handling and premium feel in the segment. The new facelift will further strengthen these specifications. The estimated price can be between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider and Skoda Kushaq. Delivery is expected to start soon after the launch.
