Troubled by your phone’s storage being full again and again? Google’s new feature will free up space in minutes

If your smartphone repeatedly gives ‘Storage Full’ alert, then there is relief news for you. Google is working on a new feature which can eliminate this problem to a great extent. According to the report, a new feature has been seen in the latest beta version of Google Play Services, which is named Automatic Backup. This feature can allow users to backup their phone’s files directly to their PC – without using cloud storage.

This feature has appeared inside the Quick Share settings, where its short description is – ‘Backup your photos with devices in your household.’ It is clear that Google wants to present it as an easy and local backup solution.

How will this feature work?
The automatic backup feature can automatically copy selected files from your smartphone to your computer. That means you will not need to upload your photos and videos to the cloud, rather they will be saved directly in your PC.

Users can also control which files they want to backup.

Possible options could be:

  • Photos taken from camera
  • Videos recorded from camera
  • Audio files

Apart from this, there may also be an On/Off toggle, so that you will be able to turn this feature on or off as per the need. If you want to do a backup immediately, then you can also get the option of ‘Back up now’ button.

the most special thing
The biggest feature of this feature is that even if you delete any file from your phone, it will remain safe in your PC. That means you can free up your phone’s storage without any fear.

no internet needed
Since this feature is part of Quick Share, it will use the device-to-device transfer system. This means that internet connection will not be required for file transfer. However, it may be necessary to have the same Google Account login on both devices.

The feature is still in development
The thing to note is that this information has come out from APK teardown, which means this feature is still in the development stage. It is also possible that changes may be made in it before launch or this feature may never reach public release.
