Tiago ICE will remain with petrol and CNG options, while Tiago EV will remain an option for affordable electric mobility. This update will make Tiago more competitive in the segment, where vehicles like Maruti Swift, Maruti Grand i10 Nios and MG Comet EV are present. The launch is expected to take place in the third quarter or second half of 2026. Let’s take a look at its design and powertrain updates.
updated design
A lot of changes will be seen in the exterior design of the upcoming Tata Tiago ICE and Tiago EV. The test mules featured new LED headlamps, brow-style LED DRLs, revised front grille, new bumper and a sharper look. The Tiago EV will retain the EV-specific blue accents along with the closed grille, but the overall front fascia will look more modern and premium. New alloy wheels, revised taillights and fresh color options can be added to the side and rear. Sunroof option is also said to be available in higher variants, which will be a big upgrade in this segment.
interior updates
Updates to the interior will also be significant. A 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system can be found as standard in both variants, which will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The cabin will give a more premium feel with a fully digital instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel and better material quality. The Tiago EV will have better integrated EV-specific displays and regenerative braking indicators than before. The seating will remain comfortable, while minor improvements are possible in storage space and boot capacity. Overall, the cabin now looks more tech-forward and user-friendly.
Features and safety
The new Tiago is going to have a ton of features. Higher variants may include 360-degree camera, cruise control, automatic climate control, wireless charging and connected car tech. Smart regenerative braking, drive modes (Eco, City, Sport) and fast charging support will be better than before in Tiago EV. Both models are expected to have USB-C ports, multifunction steering and better sound system. These updates will make Tiago more convenient and enjoyable in everyday driving.
Safety has been Tata’s biggest strength and it will be further strengthened in the new Tiago. Tiago, which currently has a 4-star Global NCAP rating, can now have 6 airbags as standard, earlier there were only 2. Apart from this, features like 360-degree camera, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), Hill Start Assist, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts can be added.
Powertrain details
Tiago ICE will mainly be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (86 PS power, 113 Nm torque), which will be available with 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. CNG option will also continue. Some reports suggest the option of adding a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (about 120 PS, 170 Nm), which will significantly improve the performance.
Tiago EV will have two battery options – 19.2 kWh (223 km range, 45 kW motor, 110 Nm torque) and 24 kWh (293 km range, 55 kW motor, 114 Nm torque). It can complete the speed of 0-60 km/h in just 5.7-6.2 seconds. Fast charging (10-80% around 58 minutes) and smart regenerative braking are going to be the same as before. Real-world range may improve with larger battery packs.
