Naqvi, who besides heading the PCB is also a senior minister in the Government of Pakistan, had not been expected to make the trip to India. Sources aware of the developments indicated to Sportstar that his participation through video conference will be in line with standard ICC protocol.
The meeting was originally slated to be held in Doha last month before being postponed because of the prevailing crisis in West Asia. The Ahmedabad meeting is expected to feature discussions on the international calendar, governance matters and commercial issues, with representatives from all major cricket boards scheduled to participate.
Naqvi remains one of the most influential administrators in Asian cricket at present, not least because of his dual role as chairman of the Asian Cricket Council. He was among the central figures during the chaotic aftermath of the Asia Cup final last year — a controversy that eventually resulted in India returning home without the trophy despite defeating Pakistan in the summit clash.
