Udaipur Student Devlop Smart Electricity Meter: An engineering student from Udaipur has designed a smart energy monitoring system named “Urja IQ”. This device provides information about real-time power consumption, most power-using appliances and estimated bill on the mobile. Amidst the rising electricity bills, this innovation is being considered very helpful for the people.
This is a smart energy monitoring system, with the help of which consumers can see complete information about the electricity consumption in their home or office on their mobile phones. The special thing is that this device is based on wireless technology and provides power usage data in real time.
Complete information about electricity expenditure will be available on mobile.
Aditya said that even today most people do not know which appliance in their house is consuming the most electricity. Many times the electricity bill increases due to excessive usage, but due to lack of correct information people are not able to control it. Keeping this problem in mind, “Energy IQ” system was prepared.
Smart sensors and wireless modules have been installed in this device, which transmit every information related to power consumption directly to the mobile application. The user can see on his phone how many units of electricity were consumed, at what time the electricity was used the most and how much the estimated bill could be. Apart from this, the consumer can also monitor electricity usage as per his monthly budget.
Auto bill feature will save time
The most special thing about this system is its auto bill generation feature. The user will not need to make separate estimates every month, as the probable electricity bill will be visible on the app itself. With this, people will be able to take timely electricity saving measures and reduce unnecessary expenses.
According to Aditya, this system can be made more advanced in the coming time. In future, facilities like switching on-off of home electronic appliances from mobile can also be added to it, so that it can become a part of smart home technology.
University teachers have also described this project as useful and in line with future needs. He says that such innovations not only promote technical education but also offer practical solutions to the everyday problems of the common people. Amidst rising electricity prices, innovations like “Energy IQ” can prove to be helpful in helping people save electricity smartly and control their expenses.
