This year AI technology will be the complete focus in Google I/O 2026. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced several big AI features and tools during the developer conference. The company said that it is now processing 3.2 quadrillion AI tokens every month, which is seven times more than last year.

Gemini 3.5 Flash launched
Google introduced its new AI model Gemini 3.5 Flash, which the company has described as a fast and low-cost AI model. This model is now available in AI Mode of Gemini App and Google Search. According to the company, this model can work four times faster than other big AI models.

Ask YouTube and the new AI Search

Google has also launched Ask YouTube feature for YouTube. With its help, users can search for a specific part of a video, even if they do not remember the name of the video. Apart from this, a new AI Search Box has been added to Google Search, which allows smart searching through text, photo and audio.

AI in Gmail and Workspace

Now Gemini AI will also be supported in Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs and Keep. Users will be able to ask questions in natural language and AI will create content with their help. AI Inbox feature has also been added to Gmail, which will provide facilities like smart reply and automatic task management.

Android XR Smart Glasses

Google also introduced Android XR based smart glasses. The company showed a glimpse of both audio glasses and smart glasses with display. This technology will work to further improve AR and AI experience in future.
