Smart glasses worth more than Rs 2 lakh launched, know what is special
Taking a big step in the world of Augmented Reality (AR) technology, Snap has launched its new Specs AR Glasses. The company introduced these during the Augmented World Expo 2026. The special thing is that this is the first consumer-focused product of Snap’s new smart wearables unit. Such a combination of AI and AR technology is seen in these smart glasses, which gives a glimpse of future technology.
The new Specs AR Glasses will be available in two different sizes. The weight of the 47mm model is 132 grams, while the weight of the 52mm model is kept at 136 grams. Users can also get prescription lenses fitted if needed.
Talking about the display, the company has used its special Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) technology in it. This smart glass supports 51 degree field of view and 16 million colors. Snap claims that while working, its display feels like a 24-inch desktop monitor, while while watching a movie or video, it feels like a 115-inch virtual screen.
Specs AR Glasses have two Snapdragon processors, which support hand tracking and other interactive features. Users will be able to do many things with hand gestures, which will make the experience even more seamless.
Another feature of this device is its Electrochromic Lenses. These lenses can change their tint according to the surrounding light in about 10 seconds. This means that even after going from a dark place to a brightly lit place, the viewing experience remains better.
Talking about AI features, it has been provided with an AI-powered voice assistant, which can answer questions by understanding the environment around the user. Apart from this, facilities like AR navigation, space measurement and content streaming are also available. Users can see digital information on the real world in front of them, making navigation and other tasks easier.
Keeping privacy in mind, the company has also provided an LED recording indicator during camera use, so that people around can know that the camera is active.
price in lakhs
Talking about the price, the starting price of Snap Specs AR Glasses has been kept at $2,195 (about Rs 2.07 lakh). At present its pre-order booking has started and its sale will start in America, Britain and France. No official information has been revealed yet regarding its launch in India.
