Now ChatGPT will not have to tell the same thing again and again, new memory system launched

OpenAI has introduced a major upgrade to ChatGPT’s memory system. The company says that the new system will be smarter, more personal and more accurate than before. The purpose of this update is to enable ChatGPT to better understand and remember users’ preferences, habits and past conversations.

The memory feature of ChatGPT was first launched in 2024. At that time, users could directly ask ChatGPT to remember any specific information. This allowed the chatbot to use that information in future conversations.

After this, in 2025, OpenAI further improved the memory system. ChatGPT was given the ability to understand and automatically remember important information from old chat history. The company recognizes this process by the name “Dreaming”.

Now with the new update, ChatGPT’s memory has become more advanced than before. According to OpenAI, the new system focuses on three main things – remembering old important information, understanding user preferences and keeping the information updated with time.

For example, if a user prefers a certain response style or is constantly working on a project, ChatGPT will be able to take that into account in future conversations. Similarly, if the user has previously discussed a travel plan and that travel has already been completed, ChatGPT will not consider it as a future plan.

Memory summary entry
OpenAI has also introduced a new Memory Summary page. Through this page, users will be able to see what information ChatGPT remembers about them. If any information is incorrect, it can be changed, deleted or new information can be added.

Currently this new memory system is being released for ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in America. The company says that in the coming weeks it will also be made available to other countries and Free and Go plan users.

OpenAI believes that this is the most advanced memory system ever, which will help in providing more usable and personalized experiences to ChatGPT.
