These days, a post is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which it was being claimed that Instagram will be completely banned in India from the night of 25 August 2026. As soon as this claim went viral, a situation of confusion arose among millions of users. Now the Central Government has given an official response on this and made it clear that the claim of banning Instagram is completely fake and misleading.

The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Department (PIB) refuted the viral claim by posting it on social media platform X. It said that no such decision has been taken by the Government of India regarding Instagram nor has any official announcement been made in this regard.

Be careful of rumors

PIB Fact Check said in its statement that through a post on social media, it is being claimed that Instagram will be banned in India from the night of 25 August 2026, whereas this is completely fake news.
