Indians at the Hundred, Matchday 11: Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh have off day as Manchester Super Giants lose to Trent Rockets

Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh had a day to forget with the bat as Manchester Super Giants lost to Trent Rockets by 31 runs in a league stage encounter of The Hundred’s 2026 edition at the Emirates Old Trafford on Friday.

Meg Lanning won the toss and the Super Giants opted to field.

While Grace Ballinger removed Beth Mooney cheaply, Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Luff each powered the Rockets innings with half centuries. Smriti and Richa did contribute in the field, with the former taking a straightforward catch at mid-off to help Maitlan Brown dismiss Luff. Richa’s quick reflexes came handy in the stumping of Ashleigh Gardner which helped tighten the screws further on the Rockets’ inning.

But the foundation was enough to hold Rockets in good stead despite a wobble there on. Goergia Adams’ unbeaten 20 helped the side push the total to 153/8.

Chasing a stiff 154 for a win, Super Giants lost Smriti early, with Samantha Bates drawing her out for a shot which she didn’t connect with. Mooney made no mistake behind the stumps. Lanning persevered but fell for a 24-ball 35. Super Giants couldn’t stitch a partnership at any point to make any meaningful gains in hacking away at the target. Richa too could do little with 13 runs off eight balls, with the Super Giants eventually falling short by 31 runs to slump to their first loss of the season.

Rockets, thanks to this win, replaced Super Giants in second place in the standings.

The next game to feature an Indian in The Hundred will be when Southern Brave plays London Spirit at Lord’s on August 1, which will see Jemimah Rodrigues in action.
