South Africa named a 16-member squad, with Temba Bavuma at its helm, for its three-match home ODI series against Australia starting on September 24.
Bavuma last featured for the Proteas in the 50-over format against India in December 2025. Along with Bavuma, fast bowler Gerald Coetzee also marked his return to the ODI set-up for the first time since the 2023 World Cup.
Apart from the two, regulars including Aiden Markram (second and third ODIs only), Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, David Miller, Corbin Bosch and Quinton de Kock, who were rested for the series against Namibia, have also been named in the squad.
The series will serve as important preparation ahead of next year’s World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

The two sides will also lock horns in a three-match Test series in October. South Africa is yet to announce its squad for the Test series, while Australia named its squad earlier in the day.
