Former India pacer Ashish Nehra on Monday said that while he did not have any ambition to coach the Indian team, it would be an honour for him to do the job.
Speaking at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) annual awards function here, Nehra said, “It will be an honour and privilege, but I never plan. I have no ambition. I am very happy where I am.”
Nehra, who coached Gujarat Titans to the Indian Premier League (IPL) title in its debut season four years ago, said if offered the India job, he would ‘check with his wife’ as it would involve eight to nine months of travel.

“When it comes to international coaching, not too many people have done more than three-four years because of the kind of demand and travelling. We will see,” he said.
According to Nehra, GT captains Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya are as different as the ‘north pole and south pole’. While Hardik was keen to learn and engaged in a lot of conversations, Gill is a little reserved and shy, Nehra said.
Former international cricketers Utpal Chatterjee and Purnima Choudhary were conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award.
