East Zone continued to pile on the runs on the second day of the Duleep Trophy 2026 Final against South Zone at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.
After scoring 385 runs on the opening day, East Zone crossed 600 runs courtesy of Ishan Kishan slamming a double century and Kumar Kushagra moving past 100.
The team posted 708 runs after putting South Zone to toil for 163 overs.
However, this was nowhere close to the highest team score in a title match. The record belongs to North Zone, which had scored 868 runs against West in the 1987 final.
Before this game, there had been only two instances of teams crossing the 700-run mark in the final — South Zone in 1986 and North Zone in 1991.
