YourStory × Meta unveil 'Bharat Builds With Llama': A docu-reel series on how Indian startups use open-source AI to solve for India's unique needs

For all the noise around AI, the real momentum in India is increasingly happening outside pitch decks and policy rooms. Across the country, companies are beginning to fold AI into processes that were traditionally slow, manual, or limited by language and access. Health information tools, multilingual learning support, legal documentation, accessibility solutions, and customer operations are all being reshaped by open-source models.

To capture this transition, YourStory, in collaboration with Meta, is launching Bharat Builds With Llama, a short-form docu-reel series that documents how Indian startups are using open-source Llama models in practical, context-specific ways. Instead of focusing on futuristic promises, the series looks at where AI is already in use, and what it means for the people building with it.

Each episode, roughly two minutes long, follows one applied use case inside its real working environment. The creators featured in the series represent a growing wave of Indian builders fine-tuning open-source models to fit local needs. Their challenges are often practical: unreliable infrastructure, diverse languages, limited resources, or the need to integrate AI into systems that were never designed for it. But these constraints are also what make the work uniquely Indian, shaped by scale, inclusion, and the realities of on-ground usage.

Bharat Builds With Llama offers a ground-level view of this emerging landscape. Rather than highlighting breakthroughs or technical milestones, it documents incremental problem-solving: AI used to simplify everyday tasks, improve access to information, and bring efficiency to sectors that need it.

The series will roll out on YourStory’s platforms in the coming weeks. It offers an early look at how AI adoption in India is forming through practical experimentation and context-driven problem-solving through dozens of small, purposeful deployments.
