Most runs in Ashes: Steve Smith overtakes Jack Hobbs to go second behind Don Bradman


Australia’s Steve Smith became the second-highest run scorer in the history of Ashes during the third day of the fifth Test in Sydney.

The 36-year-old, who scored his 37th Test hundred on Tuesday, overtook England’s Jack Hobbs in the all-time Ashes run-scorers list.

Only Don Bradman has scored more runs in the Ashes than Smith.

Smith’s ton was also his 13th in the Ashes, taking him past Hobbs’ tally in the tournament. Once again, only Bradman (19) has scored more Ashes hundreds than Smith.
