Udayagiri MLA Kakarla Suresh, who was instrumental in getting the funds sanctioned from Nellore Urban Development Authority (NUDA) and the Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP), unveiled the plaque to launch the project, along with the MPP President Vanipenta Hymavathi.
A 1 km, six-foot-wide drainage network will be laid across the town as part of the project. NUDA extended ₹87 lakh, while MPP sanctioned ₹30 lakh for the massive project. A tar road sanctioned from RWS office to Neredupalle road will be converted into a cement concrete road.
The Vinjamur Mandal Parishad meeting held recently also gave its nod to accord sanction works worth ₹2.5 crore to be undertaken across the mandal.
“After the NDA alliance came to power, we have taken up cement road works worth ₹3 crore so far and installed a dialysis centre at the Community Health Centre (CHC), while the Anna canteen is ready for inauguration”, said Mr. Suresh.
The MLA has also proposed to lay a central median (divider) on the road from the bus station to Bungalow centre, with central lighting facility.
