Addressing the summit under the theme “AI for Viksit Bharat,” Mr. Ambani described the moment as “a defining point in India’s tech history,” aligning AI with the country’s ambition to become a fully developed nation by 2047.
He positioned AI not merely as another technological wave, but as a civilisational shift. “Artificial Intelligence is not just another technology,” he said, calling it a “modern-day Akshaya Patra” capable of delivering limitless augmentation in knowledge, productivity and efficiency.
Rs 10 lakh crore investment over seven years
Mr. Ambani announced that Jio, along with Reliance, will invest Rs 10 lakh crores over the next seven years starting this year, describing it as “patient, disciplined, nation-building capital” rather than speculative investment.
The core of this strategy lies in building India’s sovereign AI compute infrastructure. According to Mr. Ambani, the biggest constraint in AI today is not talent but the scarcity and high cost of compute.
To address this, Jio Intelligence will roll out three major initiatives:
- Gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centres, beginning with multi-gigawatt facilities at Jamnagar. Over 120 MW of capacity is expected to come online in the second half of 2026, with a roadmap toward gigawatt-scale compute.
- Green energy integration, leveraging up to 10 GW of surplus renewable power anchored by solar projects in Kutch and Andhra Pradesh.
- A nationwide edge compute layer, integrated with Jio’s network to enable low-latency, affordable intelligence “close to where Indians live, learn and work”.
“India cannot afford to rent intelligence,” Mr. Ambani said, promising to reduce the cost of AI as dramatically as Jio reduced the cost of mobile data.
AI in every Indian language
A central pillar of the strategy is multilingual AI capability across Indian languages. Mr. Ambani stressed that AI inclusion would mean farmers, artisans and students interacting with systems in their own mother tongue.
“Jio AI Bharat ki bhaasha mein bolega… Bharat ki mitti mein phalega,” he said, underscoring that AI development must be rooted in Indian culture and values.
He outlined five guiding principles for Jio Intelligence, including responsible AI, data residency, job creation, ecosystem partnerships and productivity-led deployment across sectors.
Sectoral applications: education, health, agriculture
Mr. Ambani also showcased early AI applications already being deployed:
- JioShikshak, an adaptive AI teaching assistant in 22 languages, aimed at serving 250 million school children and 50 million higher education students.
- Jio ArogyaAI, offering initial medical guidance in under five minutes on any phone.
- JioKrishi, providing voice-first advisory to 140 million farmers using satellite imagery and precision weather inputs.
- JioBharatIQ, a voice-first AI companion designed to help citizens learn, earn and access government services.
Beyond enterprise use cases, Mr. Ambani spoke of AI-powered wearables, connected homes, and AI glasses, as well as AI-driven multilingual storytelling via JioHotstar to amplify India’s cultural footprint.
A call for global cooperation
In a world increasingly divided over access to chips, rare earths and advanced compute, Mr. Ambani framed India as a bridge between the Global North and Global South. AI, he argued, thrives through collaboration, not hoarding
Concluding his keynote, Mr. Ambani called for combining “Intelligence with Empathy” to build a future aligned with the vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.
With its scale of investment, sovereign infrastructure push, and multilingual inclusion agenda, Reliance’s AI roadmap signals that India’s technology ambitions are no longer confined to connectivity — but are now firmly aimed at shaping the global intelligence era.
