EXCLUSIVE: Accused actors Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta on handling public opinion and social media pressure: “You can’t take it so seriously”Reflecting on the pressures that come with constant public commentary, Pratibha emphasised the importance of emotional resilience. She explained that survival in the industry often depends on learning how to filter out unnecessary noise and stay grounded in one’s work.
Pratibha said, “You have to create a thick skin otherwise I don’t know how you survive. So you have to cut the noise. You have to cut the chatter. People will say whatever they want to say. You need to believe in your craft. You need to believe who you are and that’s about it.”
Echoing a similar sentiment, Konkona highlighted that detachment from constant judgment is essential for longevity in the creative field. “People are so quick to judge without knowing the context of what happened. Sometimes the information is via via via something you’ve heard of. You don’t know what actually transpired. You don’t know both sides of the story. And then there’s this kind of a social media trial which happens. And then people form an opinion about the person depending on whether they like that person or not,” she said.
Konkana added, “I think one has to develop a bit of a thick skin. You can’t take it so seriously.”
Together, their reflections underline a shared perspective within the film industry — that while feedback is inevitable, self-belief and focus on craft remain the strongest anchors. In a digital age where opinions travel faster than ever, their advice serves as a reminder that resilience and clarity often matter more than applause.
