Beware of fake part-time job messages on WhatsApp. These are scams that ask for a security deposit and disappear as soon as the money is sent. Block and report messages from unknown numbers.

Nowadays such messages come daily on WhatsApp which say. ‘This is a part-time job, earn 20-30 thousand per month sitting at home, just like videos, give reviews or do simple tasks.’ At first people think that they have got an amazing opportunity, but the truth is that these are mostly fake scams. Lakhs of people in India have lost money falling prey to such scams.

Scammers first give small tasks, show payment of small amounts of money (which are actually crypto or fake transfers), create trust, then say ‘For bigger earnings, first give security deposit of Rs 500-5000’ or ‘Pay for VIP task’. Money disappears as soon as it is sent.

How to identify these fake messages? Comes from unknown number (often foreign number like +1, +234 or +63), job offer without applying, without interview, simple tasks like like/subscribe YouTube video, Google review, product add to cart, survey, promise of very good salary – Rs 500-2000 per day in just 2-3 hours, asks for quick response, ‘book slot’ or ‘join group’ Or sometimes they are asked to provide personal details, bank details or click on links.

These scams are still going on in 2026. Surveys show that more than 40% of WhatsApp users have received such fake job offers. Scammers use the names of companies like Chegg, PixelCrayons or some fake HR, but the real company puts a disclaimer that we do not provide such jobs.

Now the easiest way, how to block and report them in 1 click? For this, open the message (but do not click any link!).

Tap the number or name above the chat. Scroll down – ‘Block’ and ‘Report’ options will appear. Choose ‘Report and Block’ – this is the best. In one click, report and block will also be done. By reporting, WhatsApp comes to know, it checks the account and can close it. If you are in a group then go to group info and do ‘Report Group’. Also delete the chat so that it doesn’t happen again.
