T20 World Cup 2026 final — Who are the umpires and match officials in India vs New Zealand?


India will look to complete its T20 World Cup title defence with victory over New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.

English duo Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, both members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, have been appointed as the on-field officials for the final. Allahuddien Paleker will serve as the third umpire, while Adrian Holstock will be fourth umpire. Andy Pycroft will be the match referee.

Illingworth has been an on-field official for numerous ICC event finals including the 2023 ODI World Cup final, 2024 T20 World Cup final, and the 2025 Champions Trophy final. Wharf, meanwhile, will be officiating his first senior men’s ICC final.

The pair was in charge of the first semifinal between New Zealand and South Africa. Both have also umpired India matches in this tournament already. Illingworth was in charge of India’s group-stage match with Pakistan, while Wharf officiated its Super Eights match against Zimbabwe.
