Highest individual scores in T20 World Cup knockouts: Sanju Samson enters top five; Bethell leads list


Indian opener Sanju Samson scored a rapid 89 in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

With this knock, he equalled the fourth-highest score by a batter in a T20 World Cup knockout game.

Samson had also smashed a 42-ball 89 for India in the semifinal of the competition against England.

Later in the game, England’s Jacob Bethell smashed a 48-ball 105 to top the list as his side fell short by seven runs.

On Wednesday, New Zealand’s Finn Allen had become the first player to score a hundred in a T20 World Cup knockout game.

India’s Virat Kohli had scored an unbeaten 89 against West Indies at the Wankhede in 2016.
