Sanju Samson breaks Virat Kohli’s record for most runs in a T20 World Cup edition by an Indian


Opener Sanju Samson became the highest-scoring Indian in a single T20 World Cup edition during the final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Sanju overtook former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who recorded 319 runs during the 2014 edition.

With a sparkling 89 in the final, Sanju ended his T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with 321 runs from five innings at an incredible average of 80.25.

Ishan Kishan, who also scored a fifty in the final, finished the tournament with 317 runs, entering the top-five list.
