Making duplicate RC (Registration Certificate) of your vehicle in UP has now become much easier and digital than before. If your RC is lost, stolen or damaged, you do not need to worry. You can start this process sitting at home through the online portal of the Transport Department (Parivahan Sewa).

With the right documents and step-by-step information, you can get your duplicate RC without visiting any agent. This process not only saves time but also ensures transparency in the system. Let us understand the step-by-step process of making a duplicate RC.

Process of making duplicate RC

There are mainly two ways to get duplicate RC made in Uttar Pradesh – online and offline. Here we will learn in detail about the most effective i.e. online process. First of all you have to collect the following documents-

  1. Copy of FIR: In case of loss of RC, FIR lodged at the local police station (mandatory).
  2. Form 26: Application form for duplicate RC.
  3. Photocopy of Registration Certificate: If available.
  4. Insurance Certificate: Copy of valid insurance.
  5. Pollution Certificate (PUC): Valid PUC Certificate.
  6. Proof of identity and address: Aadhar Card, PAN Card or Voter ID.
  7. Print of chassis number: Printout of chassis number taken in pencil.

Step-by-Step Process of Online Application

  • Visit Parivahan Portal: First of all go to the official website of Transport Service (https://parivahan.gov.in/).
  • Select Vehicle Services: Go to ‘Online Services’ menu and click on ‘Vehicle Related Services’ and select ‘Uttar Pradesh’ in your state.
  • Login and Registration: Enter your vehicle registration number and click on ‘Proceed’.
  • Select Service: Select the ‘Duplicate RC’ option from the services shown on the screen.
  • Fill details: Enter the last 5 digits of your vehicle’s chassis number and click on ‘Verify Details’. After this an OTP will come on your registered mobile number.
  • Fill the form: After entering OTP, a detailed form will open. Here you will have to fill the reason for losing RC and information about FIR.
  • fees paid: After filling all the information, you will have to pay the prescribed fee (usually around ₹150 for two-wheelers and ₹300-500 for cars) online.
  • Book an Appointment: After payment book a slot/appointment for your respective RTO.

Verification in RTO

After completion of the online process, you have to visit the concerned RTO office on the chosen date. There you will have to submit your original documents and hard copy of the receipt generated online. The officers present there will match your documents.

Receipt of RC

Once the verification is successful, the RTO approves your duplicate RC. Within a few weeks your new RC is sent to your registered address via speed post. You can also download it in digital form through ‘M-Parivahan’ app, which is as valid as the physical copy.
